COMPETITION RULES

1. ORGANIZER: CEVISAMA, International Exhibition for Architectural Ceramics, Bathroom and Kitchen Furnishings, Raw Materials, Glazes, Frits and Machinery.

2. VENUE: FERIA VALENCIA.

3. DATES: 10th – 13th February 2009.

4. OBJECTIVE:The mission of this competition is to design "Liquid Dreams".
The concept of the bathroom as an aseptic and purely functional space is giving way to one of a place for rest, enjoyment and inner reflection. We have learned from oriental cultures that taking a bath can be a calming and a spiritual moment. The challenge is not to create designs that come with inaccessible luxuries or complex technology. It is, instead, to take a fresh look at how bathrooms are normally used whilst at the same time accommodating and giving shape to those “liquid dreams” that can lead to a new interpretation of the bathroom for the 21st century.

5. OPEN TO: All students in any design, fine arts, architecture or engineering school, either in Spain or worldwide, including postgraduate and masters students. The competition will also accept entries from persons who have graduated in the two years previous to the competition. Participation is this category can be either individual or in teams of one or various specialities in design and degrees.

7. JURY: The Jury will be appointed by the CEVISAMA Organising Committee, and will act totally independent from this Committee. The Jury will decide on the admissibility of entries received, and will shortlist those that it judges fulfil the requirements of the competition. The prizes will be decided by unanimity or majority vote. The Jury’s decision is final and the Jury will explain its reasons for awarding each of the prizes. It may decide not to award one of the prizes if it judges that none of the entries had sufficient merit. At the same time, the Jury will pay special attention to award the prizes to industrially feasible entries or projects.
